About the women:
The women have their own Whats app group where they exchange thoughts and encourage one other with Bible texts or testimonies. The women are very involved in the work, also at the meetings. It also fits in with the community's view that women are respected and valued. Many women come from a difficult situation, sometimes there has been persecution because of conversion to Christianity. In this group they can speak freely and find comfort and friendship together. In Islamic / Arab culture, women are often inferior and have little recognition, but in the Christian faith man and woman are equal. In the Bible, there are enough examples of women who speak on behalf of God and who are powerful and blessed in it, such as Deborah, hence the name of the group.

WHO ARE WE?
The Moroccan Christian community is being formed by people with a Moroccan background who believe in Jesus Christ. Most of the Christians in this group have an Islamic background. They come from different villages and cities in the Netherlands and have found each other through social media.

The women together have a Whatsapp group called Women's group Deborah and the men together have an app group called: De Gideonsbende.
We believe in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

This is what we want to convey to the Moroccan community in the Netherlands. We are members of different churches and we believe that it is important to form unity. In this way we want to make the saving, happy message visible in the Moroccan community in the Netherlands.

We meet regularly in a service of worship, testimonies and prayer. We have time of meeting and we eat together. The purpose of this community is to encourage one another, to help and support each other and to offer a familiar place where brothers and sisters from the same culture and background can express and share the Christian faith. Of course, non-Moroccans are also welcome. The services are led by pastor Saïd and he is assisted by an enthusiastic team.
About the men:
The men also have their own Whatsapp group. The brothers regularly send each other a message, often with encouragement or a good joke. The aim of the w.a. group is that the men feel that they belong somewhere. It can be difficult to be an immigrant, perhaps not accepted by family and friends anymore because of your faith in Christ. It is good to know men around you who are in the same situation. The men's group also works for people who are in a difficult situation, men and women. This can be people who seek asylum or shelter. The men are happy to help them with practical help, shelter or financial support.
